That's why we mapped all the existing marketplaces to make everything easier.

Large-scale online retail channel

To sell online you don't necessarily need to have your own e-commerce: you can use existing channels, or marketplaces. These are the online counterparts of large-scale retail channel for traditional sales. Our mapping includes and distinguishes between open and closed marketplaces, vertical and horizontal ones.

To facilitate consultation and research of the market, we have divided all European areas by country. In this way you can approach the different countries through the most influential marketplaces in that area of interest.

The marketplaces on the map have been divided by product category based on the most relevant production sectors. We have therefore divided the marketplaces into 20 macro categories of products and services in order to make it easier to identify your area of interest.

We have distinguished and separated the marketplaces dedicated to B2B (business to business) from the more numerous ones of B2C (business to consumer). You therefore have two separate maps available. In this way you can immediately choose the one that suits you and your type of sale.

4 simple steps to approach online sales on marketplaces

1. Choose your business

You have two maps available. You can download:
  1. The marketplaces map dedicated to B2B
  2. The marketplaces map dedicated to B2C

2. Find the category

You have up to 20 product categories available between products and services. Refer to your trade and you will find specific marketplaces for that category.

3. Proceed by country

Countries are grouped into three macro categories:
  • Italy
  • Europe
  • Extra Europe
Choose the area which you want to start from, or continue, your online sale.

4. Ask for assistance

You can contact us if:
  • you have doubts of any kind, you cannot download the maps, you want to report an implementation, an error, etc.

WHO I AM

Martina Vazzoler

I have always been involved in marketing, digital strategies and online sales with a specific focus on marketplace dynamics. I have developed an e-commerce platform dedicated to Made in Italy (www.e-italy.com), connected with 11 Amazon accounts (IT, DE, FR, ES, NL, SE, PL, UK, US, CA, MX) and 9 Ebay.
Together with the students of the Web Marketing faculty of the IUSVE (VE) I created the first complete mapping of all marketplaces and online distribution at Italian, European and extra-European level, Food and non-Food.
The result of this research is collected in the book Selling online with the marketplace map, published by Hoepli. In this manual I have tried to outline the best digital strategy for the Italian company.
I write books to digitize micro-enterprises and I do courses and consultancy to humanize digital. I know I don't know (yet enough), but I don't use it as an excuse to give up. After all, I have no alternative but to put my two cents.
